01/21/2003 | K7MDL/R No snow this January contest in most of Washington area. Ran only 7 grids this time out. Added 222 and 1296 which sure helped out with the points total. Lots of activity on both bands giving me almost 25% of QSO count. Highlight was making a 1296 contact with WA7TZY over 100+ miles distance over the Cascade Mountains range with a pair of stacked big wheels and 3 watts on my end. Was CW and took a while but finally made it. -- K7MDL
