06/18/2003 | K7BEN This was my first contest where I flew solo. It was very exciting. I was portable at my grandfather's house in south Georgia. I brought only 6 meter wire dipole and a 4 element 2 meter Yagi. I did bring coax but no way to mount either of them. With my grandfathers help I was able to come up with some PVC pipe and string. If there is any thing that Ham radio has taught me, it's how to improvise. Thanks to N1ZZZ for showing me the ropes of contesting and KG4UPZ for the loaner Icom 706. 73 to all. -- K7BEN
