2003 ARRL June VHF Contest

07/08/2003 | K9ILT/R K0PG/R We were disappointed that we had to scrap our plans for a 14 grid effort into some new territory for us. We wound up activating 8 grids, but thanks to 6 meters we had lots of fun and posted a decent score.

A highlight of the event was the activation of a new "Mt. Trashmore" in EN51. It is probably the highest landfill in Chicagoland and offers great possibilites for the higher bands. We were too busy with 6 (Aww!) to do much on the higher bands but we have visions of lots of good stuff in the contests to come, provided it doesn't get too crowded!

We had some 2 meter RX problems, now solved. The six meter amp blew up, but in all, a good time. It's great to work old friends and make some new ones too! See you in September. 73, Tim & Pat -- K0PG/R & K9ILT/R
