2003 ARRL Field Day

07/01/2003 | K8FBI The Flying Beers International Broadcast Society operated K8FBI (1A, Emergency Power) from the QTH of N8LUB and WY8W in Emmett, MI (Near Port Huron).

The station was operated by N8LUB,WS8D,WY8W and N8NM.

We made 752 CW and 454 Phone Qs running a TS-940S/AT to an 80m Loop up about 30 feet. We also had a tribander at about 40 feet which didn't see a whole lot of use.

The band conditions left something to be desired. We were able to keep the rates up on 80 and 40, but couldn't get much going on 20. 15 and 10 were not worth the 15 minute QSY "penalty".

Were we the only ones who didn't find the ARRL Special Bulletin at it's scheduled time and place? Finally got the last one on PSK31 Sunday Afternoon, but even that one seemed to have a "false start". Did Murphy visit W1AW?

All in all, I think we're all pretty pleased with our effort and looking forward to next year. -- N8NM
