07/06/2003 | W5NOR The South Canadian Amateur Radio Society of Norman, OK held our FD at Lions Park near downtown Norman, and operated 2A with demos in APRS and SSTV. We also utilized solar panels to make 5 QSO's on 20M. Our efforts were recognized by the city in that the Mayor proclaimed it to be Amateur Radio Week. The Mayor and 2 city councilmen came to our site. Our Oklahoma ARRL Section Manager also visited. 24 members labored in the set-up, operation and tear-down. Others as well as family members attended the Saturday cook out. We try to make our Field Day event a family oriented affair and a learning experience for our members. -- N5UMH
