2003 ARRL Field Day

07/08/2003 | KQ8J KQ8J was the unofficial Field Day station of the Contesters of Michigan. Operators were KB8LTF and WX3M. We ran 2A - 2 operator, 150w, emergency power. We operated from a hunting cabin located in a small clearing in the middle of 80 heavily-wooded acres near Indian River, Mighigan.

Our rigs were two IC-765s. Antennas included a 153CA and a 203BA on a 56' N8KLX-designed tower/trailer and wires for 40m and 80m. We used NA 10.58 for computer logging and ICE/homebrew bandpass filters.

We made 852 CW QSOs and 650 SSB QSOs. 7h:12m of off-time in the middle of the night made quite an impact! Overall our score was down 22% from last year, but we did the best we could with only two guys. Also, band conditions were terrible!

Please visit http://www.oakland.edu/~dchishol/field_day_2003.htm for more details of our operation.
