07/09/2003 | WT4F The 2003 WT4F Foothills Amateur Radio Club Field Day event was a living memorial to Tommy Ellison / K4TWE who passed away all too soon.

Tommy was the club's president at the time of his death last year and one of the fondest memories we have of him was FD 2002, which was the club's first Field Day event using the WT4F club callsign.

We had such a wonderful time and we could think of no better way to pay respect to our friend than to do it all over again in 2003!

The operation took place again from the backyard of Gretchen / KE4HGX & Wes / KS4XQ Ellison...

We had more people involved this year, over 28, including Pickens County Red Cross representatives, Pickens County ARES members and even an Easley City Councilman and his family.

While we learned a lot, ate a lot, and made more contacts than last year, we also took time out to spend with good friends as we held our club meeting DURING the event...

Now, if only FD 2004 would hurry up and get here! -- W5UGD
