2003 ARRL Field Day
Operating 2A at Dixon Lake Campground on a hill with a beautiful view of Escondido CA. We had 3 monoband yagis mounted on towers on 10, 15 and 20 meters which peformed flawlessly although with little 10 M progagation the 10 Meter was hardly used. John KG6DVE once again cooked up some of the finest Field Day cuisine to be served anywhere. Danny AE6MB and Thomas KG6INL did a great job attempting some Sattelite QSO,s. Willie N8WP and his wife Cheryl KG6KTT spent hours on the GOTA station helping new hams get those 1st Field Day contacts. Due to a misunderstanding with one on the park rangers our Emergency Drill became a real emergency drill when the ranger demanded we shut off all emergency generaters at 1 AM in the morning. We were quickly back on the air after a quick scramble to acquire some battery power and to back up all our logging programs. It was great to see so many people work together and have such a great time. Just wait till next year!!! -- KK6TV
