07/25/2003 | WD9EWK Another fun year in northern Arizona, this time using a new IC-703 instead of my FT-817. Propagation wasn't as good, but I kept making QSOs by moving down to 40m instead of listening to static on 15m or 10m. Fewer bonus points this year compared to 2002 (only the 100% emergency power and public-location bonuses), but more QSOs in 6 hours on the air (51 QSOs, all SSB). In the shade, 25 to 30 degrees cooler than my home (Phoenix AZ area), a great excuse to get out of town - even for a day-trip!
