2003 ARRL Field Day

07/26/2003 | K7EAR The Eastern Arizona Amateur Radio Society set up for field day at Clark Peak Campground on Mt Graham near Safford, AZ At about 9,000 feet in the tall pines, it was a real relief from the desert below.
We operated 3A QRP from the club bus. Due to the fire restrictions in place, we were not allowed to run the generator from 1 PM until 1 AM to power the computers (ALL the radios ran off solar charged batteries), so for 12 hours, everything ran off batteries charged by the solar system. 2 80 watt panels and 5 deep cycle batteries!
Band conditions were poor but we manged to pile up a decent number of QSO's and bonus points and everybody had a great time!
