2003 ARRL Field Day

07/27/2003 | N4OLN Had a great time inspite of the poor conditions. The only band I operated was 40 meters cw. 90% of my contacts were up on the novice portion of the band. I felt they need to have some fun making contacts too. Lets all remember what QRS stands for. Slow down.

A friend of mine saw a picture of me at the rig and said, "You still use a straight key?" Yup!

The rig used was a Yeasu FT101B with a straight 40 meter dipole between two tall southern pine trees fed by rg58 direct to the rig.
The rig was battery powered the whole time thanks to Mike W3IRZ.

Field Day is a great contest and a good time to bone up on your operating skills.

73's,
Gary -- N4OLN
