07/28/2003 | WD8AAU The WD8AAU Field Day operation was a little different this year. I
operated mobile from my bicycle. All operations took place on a
bicycle trail operated by the county park system and from a county
park in and around the Dayton, Ohio area. (Creekside Trail and
Eastwood MetroPark)

I had a ton of fun. I only operated a few hours total. An
hour or so Saturday night, and the last 2 hours Sunday. Minimum
number of contacts (only 15), but maximum enjoyment. I could almost
hear the jaws drop when I signed as bicycle mobile. If you ever want
people to point and ask "what is that thing?", just hang a 20 meter
verticle off the back of your bike.



Equipment consisted of my bike, FT-817 mounted on the handle bar, a
homebrew 20 meter vertical also mounted on the bike. Equipment was
powered with a 7 AH GelCell. -- WD8AAU
