2003 ARRL Field Day

08/10/2003 | WD4NIT Warren, WD4NIT, finished Field Day 2003 with a 1D operation from
home. The operation was less ambitious than 2002 when I operated
1B from a campground at Carters Lake, Oakman, GA. After helping
with about 20 QSOs and tear down of the WB4MZO Wedixie ARC 1A site
at Carters Lake Dam day-only picnic area and an hour drive back
home to Acworth; I worked from 10 PM to midnight and again after daybreak Sunday to make 36 phone QSOs under my own call. I had planned to use emergency power (1E) but settled for 1D. Thursday
and Friday nights were spent camping at the same lake. Station was
a Yeasu FT-100 with a MFJ 941-E matcher, 100 feet of 450 Ohm twin-
line feeding an 80 meter dipole about 35 feet high. My station
was not very picturesque, but the Club's site was on top of a 300
foot high dam with a lake full of clean water on one side and miles of downstream scenery on the other. Hope your Field Day was as enjoyable. -- WD4NIT
