This was my first real attempt at operating Field Day, so it was a learning experience of sorts. My twin brother (KR4GT) and I set up on a farm our family owns in southern Kentucky and operated as a 1B class station using a generator for power. We primarily operated on 20 Meters using a dipole strung between two trees near a creek, but we were also able to scare up about 5 or 6 contacts on 10 Meters on Saturday night using a mobile antenna mounted on my brother's truck. I had dipoles for 15, 40, and 80 Meters as well, but we weren't able to get them set up properly in time, so we mainly concentrated on 20 Meters. 20 was alive and well for most of Saturday. At times on Saturday evening it seemed like there were stations on top of stations, and it was diffucult at times to pull out any one particular station from the caos. Most of the propogation was toward the South on early Sunday morning. It seemed like we worked a lot of Floridian stations on 20 early in the morning. We mananged to snage only around 80 contacts for the entire event, but hopefully we will do better next year. I enjoyed Field Day this year, and we had beautiful weather for both days of the event. -- KU4UV
