06/28/2004 | W2CRA Cherryville Repeater Association had another great Field Day - this year we decided to concentrate on the fun and GOTA mentoring over wildcat contest competition but we still ran operators in 3A class across several bands!

Nice local press coverage, a visit from our SM Bill Hudzik, W2UDT and Joyce Birmingham, KA2ANF from the ARRL, and general walk ups for GOTA.

Outside of a massive thunderstorm with some serious lightning just as the second tower out of 4 was raised, a collapsing brand new trailer tower for GOTA (of COURSE we had extra dipoles!), and a dead fuel pump on the generator at midnight (of COURSE we had spares!), a great time was had by all.
