2004 ARRL Field Day: WB5LYJ 1B NM
We (WB5LYJ & WA5WHN) had operated from our mountain location near Angus, NM (grid square: DM73ek) @ 6,800 feet asl. Lots of T-Storms nearby and QRN on 40 meters. The temperature was nice and cool and the bugs were busy bothering someone else.
KD5DJ and his XYL (Barbara) had stopped by to operate chainsaw portable. Doug and Barbara use the wood from our mountain property for winter heat. After loading their pickup with firewood, Doug & Barbara had departed. Our only other visitor was a doe.
We could hear coyotes howling and wild turkeys gobbling nearby.
Next year, we should set up the SSTV equipment and send the numerous vistas of the nearby Sierra Blanca and Capitan Mountains.
