2004 ARRL Field Day
LARC held their Field Day activities at Suffolk County's West Hills Park. The second highest point on Long Island and a perfect camping style facility gave this group an excellent edge during this years ARRL competitive exercise.
This club had the good fortune in having the safest and most complete Emergency Power plant, bar none. As many other amateur radio do, Jack Fisher, K2JX used his professional expertise to help out the club. As a licensed electrican he built a fully redundant generator system. Complete with Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI, formally called GFI) this power plant had two generators that could be switched on and off line without any loss of power. This made it easy to service and allowed for the safe fueling of the gen sets without loss of operating time. GFCI made the possibility of electrical shock injuries most likely impossible.
Congratulations K2JX and the whole Larkfield crew.
