2004 ARRL Field Day
Using the site were Alexander Anderson alternators once generated 200 Kilowatts on 15 Khz., 575-LIARS set up their tents and operated Filed Day. Almost exactly where the main building stood, members of the club installed their temporary antenna and operated their "low power" equipment during this years ARRL competition. A long boom 6 meter yagi gave the club an advantage during enhanced conditions and a number of openings on six meters.
Now over 6,000 acres of wooded presrve, this land was clear cut in the early 1920's and became the home of 2 six tower Alexander Multiple Tuned arrays. In later years, HF transmitters required many dozen Rombic wire arrays for RCA radio traffic. It's sister station in Riverhead was used for reception of traffic.
