2004 ARRL Field Day
443 cw QSOS 265 ssb QSOs claimed score 2302
With reliables KB0LGX and AC0J moved from the area and K0FJ busy with son K0KHPs wedding, our small club was pressed to deploy a full-tilt FD effort. We took the minimal planning approach and ended up having a lot of fun and an OK, if not record-breaking score. We used YP logging software instead of the usual WriteLog and it worked well for us.
The crew:
N0XNK Gary setup, photography, SSB
N0XNJ Kathy meals, photography
N0XJ Gregg networking, logs, troubleshooting, SSB
K0QP Jim SSB, Elmering
KC0IWH Mike cw S&P, SSB
KC0GLA Nathan satellites, ssb
WA0CAL John food, setup
K0BJ Bruce cw rate
XJ/XNJs harmonic Matt helped from setup to teardown and was responsible for getting Hawaii, Alberta and some other Qs for the log. Hes dusted off his copy of NYT and should be licensed by FD 2005.
Pleasant surprises: Line noise at kid-friendly Phillips Park was much improved over last year. Lovely and amazingly cool wx for setup and daytime operating. Good propagation. No major equipment problems.
Murphy list: Amazingly frigid wx for graveyard shift. Didnt get full-time 6M station deployed and ended up with no 6M Qs.
It was great having KC0IWH travel across KS to join us again and help alleviate the op. shortage.
