07/03/2004 | W5LM/W5T AD5RS, Matt, and AD5RN, John, upgraded earlier in the month to earn hf privileges. Until Field Day, however, neither had ever made an hf contact. W5WRE, Ron, took them under his wing Saturday afternoon at the GOTA station, W5T. Later, from midnight until six Sunday morning these young operators, ages 23 and 21 respectively, were seen enthusiastically honing their new skills at W5LM's 2A phone station. What a Field Day contribution to the future of amateur radio!
