07/07/2004 | K4VIZ What a great way to spend a weekend. Sailing, eating, a few "807s" and operating CW from maritime mobile. We were out on a friend's (N4VEK) sailboat and operated 40 and 20 meter CW. We used a Yaesu FT-757-GXII with an SGC auto-tuner feeding the 58 ft long backstay. For logging we used an IBM T21 laptop and N3FJP's Field Day 2.3 software. Power was supplied by onboard monster batteries under the after deck. No noisy generators here, just the breeze and lapping of the waves. Great band condx - if we called, they answered. Picture shows the boat and operating station manned by Rob / N5GEN.
