The joint Jet Propulsion Lab Amateur Radio Club and California Institute of Technology Radio Club (JPLARC and CITARC) did a 2A operation on top of Mt. Gleason (sort of like having a 6500 foot tower), along with an active VHF/UHF station and a very popular GOTA operation (several hundred Q's, I think). Jay Holladay (W6EJJ) coordinated and did a fine job. We had a 75/80 inverted V, a 40m dipole in the trees, a triband (C3S?) for 10/20 on a 35 foot tower and a monoband 4 el 15m on a 20 foot tower. The GOTA had a triband on a 20 foot (or so) tower as well.
A lot of fun, good food, the weather was gorgeous (85 during the day, 50s at night, clear skies and breeze (but no howling wind..)).
I'm sure there will be others with details, and there will no doubt be more pictures on the JPLARC and CITARC websites. For now, http://www.luxfamily.com/events/fd2004/index.htm has some pictures. -- W6RMK
