03/18/2002 | K3CQ Spent the week before the contest and part of the contest putting up a 700 foot long wire with 550 feet of open wire feed line. Completed the feed line after dark on Saturday but put up only the center of the antenna -- most of it lay on the ground. -- but still performed as well as a dipole on Saturday night. Put the ends 6 ft up on Sunday but still too close to the ground for any efficiency, but at least I could get on 80 which I could not do with 40 and 20 dipoles. -- K3CQ
