2004 ARRL Field Day

07/27/2004 | W4DXA Field Day 2004 saw the return of the Carolina DX Association to the list of participants for the first time in probably a dozen years. We enjoyed the event fully participating as a 2E station. Since our members are spread out over the states of North and South Carolina, it offered a chance for some of the participants to have a first-time "eyeball" QSO with their fellow members. We had a few wrinkles, to be sure, but we've learned and expect to be back in 2005.

Attached are a few pictures of the event.

Image P6260054.JPG: Ken Boyd, K4DXA, climbed our temporary tower by the light of a "Carolina Moon" to install a trapped 75m/40m dipole for Saturday evening's operation.

Image IMAGE010.JPG Dick Williams, W3OA, and Ken Boyd, K4DXA, got a good "run" going on Sunday morning on SSB. A splitter on the audio output lets Dick log while Ken keeps the run going.

26 foot tall "plumbers delight" tower made from PVC tubing served us well. -- K8YC
