2004 ARRL Field Day

08/05/2004 | W5SSV The Jefferson County Amateur Radio Club, Orange Amateur Radio Club and Beaumont Amateur Radio Club all participated as a group for Field Day 2004. We operated as W5SSV 3A South Texas in a city park located in Nederland, Texas. To kick off Field Day we had lunch (the big feed) with over 80 hams, public officials, other quest enjoying some very good food and each others company. Our FD operations from the Jefferson Co. ARC club house facilities at the city park gave us publicity and demonstrated our emergency communication capabilites.
Operating 3A with the transmitters operating off of batteries, our setup consisted of a phone (SSB) station, a CW station and a digital(PSK31)station. We operated 80 Meters thru 10 Meters allowing our 10 operators to make many contacts. We had a great time and always learn something new every year about RFI and setting up a field installation. The Field Day operators were: Mark Gardner - AD5PI, Pat Green KC5WCC, Brian Cater KC5YSM, Dan Harriman KC5GXL,
Rocky Wilson N5MTX, Tootie Heintschel KC5HVT, John Russell KD5RBY, Scottie Chambliss W5YUG, Lawrence Kellar KB5ZZB, and Les Jackson AD5NS. -- N5MTX
