03/04/2002 | WD4OAY/QRP It was a fun but grueling contest 5 Watts with a simple dipole is not easy! 60 QSOs and 44 DXCC Entities in two days. Down from the last times that I entered the contest (almost 10 years ago!). My FT-817 is a great rig but I need a better antenna system. I couldn't get anything on 40 Meters or below. Also the DX Operators need to take a little more time to listen for calls rather than repeating their callsigns over and over then saying QRZ and going directly into another cycle of callsigns and QRZ instead of listening for calls. That was the most annoying part of the contest.
Band conditions were very good on 15 and 10 Meters. 5 Watts got me into Europe better than South America for the most part. See you all next year, I hope!
