12/20/2004 | W1AJT/VE3 This was my first 10m contest and with a new rig (TS-480SAT) and Hamstick (7 foot mobile vertical) antenna clamped to my balcony railing in downtown Toronto. Well the rig desperately needs the optional I/F filter. I had to constantly play with the filtering to isolate out strong stations who just took over the front end. I am blocked by buildings from NE counterclockwise to South. I usually have a decent signal to Europe, Africa and SA. The conditions being what they were the only European stations I heard (and worked) were the Azores and Portugal and missed a TK5. I did work into Africa on Saturday and a lot of SA's. I even snagged a KH6 who must have had Superman's ears! Still fun and I ordered the I/F filter. I hope everyone had a good time. Happy holidays to all.
