Here we are in Pumpkin Center, LA! Rig was an Elecraft K1 running 5 watts out. Antenna was a 33' vertical wire supported by an MFJ-1910 pole anchored to a photo tripod. I used four radials two 67' long and two 33' long. Bands worked were 40/20/15 meters. I dropped in the 2 band board for 160 and 80 meters, got a 67' wire loaded up and worked AC5AM in Nachitoches, LA on 80 (he wasn't in the FD!) Even tried a test on 1815 Khz which he heard just above the noise! Didn't make any Field Day 80 meter QSO's though so switched back to 40 and carried on! Biggest problems here was mosquitoes until the citronella candles were lighted up! Hope to do better next time. Would have liked to had a second operator available! You can see base of antenna and solar panel in photo. 79 QSO's made with about 4 hrs. operation or so. -- W5TVW
