07/19/2005 | W3VPR The Anne Arundel Radio Club (www.w3vpr.org) setup for Field Day on the grounds of the Davidsonville Family Recreation Center. As the coordinator for this years event, my primary goal was to maximize membership participation. A secondary and related goal was to get some newer Hams on HF for the first time and have them be excited about it. We had 59 participants overall and about 8-10 folks made their very first HF contact! It was a beautiful thing to witness, to hear and see their excitement. I remember my first time 4 years ago I was hooked immediately! I feel so strongly about the idea of Field Day that I have to share that with others. To that end I have volunteered to coordinate Field Day for the past two years. New Hams are getting on the air for the first time and the experienced old timers are coming out to help them. Everybody WINS!
