01/08/2006 | W4YD I operated my Swan Astro 150 Transceiver (1982 vintage) with a dipole antenna and my Vibroplex Bug. I was busy driving teenagers to various engagements, so there were only 7 QSO's. I did lots of listening and heard some great fists. I also met some new friends on the air. It started with Gerd, DL8PG in Germany, followed by an interesting group that included several FISTS members such as Frank, KD5TLC, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and Harold Pugh, "Pi," K1RV, who operated the Marconi
Cape Cod Radio Club Station, KM1CC. We discussed his swim in Boston harbor earlier in the day, and after the QSO he sent a digital photo of himself in a bathing suit by email to show he wasn't kidding. -- W4YD
