2006 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/09/2006 | K3WGR wow! MY FIRST SKN, I could not remember how slow and cumbersome the straight key is! I love CW, but after years at the iambic paddle I was straining my unused muscles with the K44 brass straight key. I now remember how the term pounding the brass was born.

After a long rebuild I had the fun of placing the KWM-2 on the air. I know Collins designed the KWM-2 as a SSB rig, as CW has not filters, so it made the various QSO's I made a little more challenging!

Next year I plan to have the Heath AT-1 and the Drake 2B on the air or the Hallicrafters SX twins fired up. I did not work a long time but I had a great time.

Thanks ARRL for sponsoring this great meeting on the air and allowing me to bring back some of the memoires of my hamming from my first license in 1963!
