2006 ARRL Field Day

06/27/2006 | K2DO Despite the often heavy rains, over 15 clubs in the NYC/Long Island section set up Field Day stations. The locations were as diverse as the Horton's Point Lighthouse, to the Eaton's Neck Coast Guard Station, the former RCA radio-transmitting facility, county park or schoolyard. Here are some photos taken on Saturday of Field Day. Some groups were just setting up, others had taken the opportunity to set up Friday afternoon. Overall over a hundred local hams were able to get on the air from these stations and participate in ARRL Field Day. Congrats to them all!

Some of the clubs I visited with Section Manager George Tranos were:
Peconic Amateur Radio Club at the Horton's Point Lighthouse in Southold; Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club at the Rosemary Kennedy BOCES Center in Wantagh; Grumman ARC on the old Grumman runway in Bethpage; Nassau Amateur Radio Club in Eisenhower Park; Wantagh ARC at Wantagh Park; Long Island Amateur Radio Simplex Club on the RCA Field in Rocky Point; Great South Bay ARC at Babylon Town Hall; Larkfield ARC, West Hills County Park in Huntington.

For more photos and info see the ARRL NYC/LI section area on the ARRL website.
