2006 ARRL Field Day
The camp ground is located 5 miles south of the town of Marcell on HWY 38 in the Chippewa National Forest in Northern Minnesota about 50 miles south of the Canadian Boarder. We come to the Camp Ground as a volunteer host the last week in April and stay to the first week in October.
I operated as a 1E for Field Day this year using my Honda generator
as the power source during the day and batteries during the quite hours
in the Camp Ground. As an active member of AMSAT, satellite ops. were the main thrust this year. Satellite ops were fun with lots of activity making it hard to complete contacts. But we were able to make contacts on SO-50, AO-51 and FO-29. 6 meters never opened here in MN the few contacts I made were long single hop or local (AZ, UT, LA, and WTX)
The rig is Yaesu FT 847; we use a Gulf Alpha Cross Boom 145/435 Satellite Antenna. The antenna for 6 meters and 2 meters is a KMA5054T at about 25 feet.
The winter QTH is in the San Joaquin Valley of California near Bakersfield.
All QSOs from here are entered in to EQSL and LOTW with the /0 to
