06/29/2006 | W7BVT Washington County, Oregon ARES joined with the City of Beaverton Office of Emergency Management and Washington County's Office of Consolidated Emergency Management for this years Field Day events.

Our ARES group had 23 participants operating 2F from the City's Emergency Operations Center. Intel Corporation's Emergency Communications Van was also on-site. Mayor Rob Drake and his 12-year old son toured the Field Day site and had enjoyable 40-meter SSB QSOs. Several City and County Emergency Managers were also present.

Demonstrations of SSTV, APRS and packet radio were held for a class of 21 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)volunteers.

We were pleased to get several new Amateurs on HF radio for the first time and enjoyed with them the magic and fun of ham radio.

All-in-all, it was a highly successful event for our host agencies and Washington County ARES. -- KX7YT
