06/30/2006 | W4CA The 2006 Field Day was one of the best for the Roanoke Valley ARC - W4CA Club in Roanoke, Virginia.
Operations as 5A this over the 4A that had been run in past years seemed to run smooth. All stations stayed on the full time of the contest, give or take band action during the 24 hour period.
Some of the special things of this years event, wireless logging was a hit. K4WFO/Phil put up wireless between the station locations to keep from run those long data connection wires. It worked flawlessly!
Also, the return of the crane truck (Supplied by KS4BO/Dave) lifting one of the beams to about 80 plus feet above the site.
The FD cake was a hit and was consumed by days end.
Great company, food and lots of operating was had by all. 73 until next year! -- K1SO
