2006 ARRL Field Day
The spirit of Ham Radio is well and alive in Beauce, a region well known for its maple syrup and the entrepreneurship of its inhabitants.
We operated under full emergency power from a field overlooking the city of St-Georges and the beautiful Chaudiere River Valley. A small temporary village took shape as our setup was going on on saturday morning.
This year again, teamwork prooved to be our most valuable asset, a thing Christian (VA2BAZ), our young president, was very proud of.
The weather was perfect and the spirit was very high. The operation went smoothly. Most of our contacts were made using phone and psk-31.
Worth noting, Michael, a 14 years old, made his first contact over the air and doing so contributed to our club's first ever claimed bonus points for youth participation.
The Beauce region, sharing a border with the state of Maine, is a natural way of communication between Canada and the US. So if you happen to be in our region, don't hesitate to give us a call on VE2RSG on 146,610 (no tone yet). Even if most of the traffic happens to be in French I'm sure someone will be glad to answer you in English. -- VE2EZD
