2006 ARRL Field Day

07/24/2006 | VE3ZI The Sudbury Amateur Radio Club found a new location this year, and abandoned military radar site. Talk about high ground elevation! With a 2A setup, plus the GOTA station, signals were excellent from a site that has nothing above it in ground elevation for 20 miles....Talk about low angle radiation.

Setup began at 1800UTC Friday, and local Hydro utility donated the use of a boom truck to raise antennas, and leave the boom extended for our 80/160M dipoles. Local police (City of Greater Sudbury) donated the use of their mobile command center. Talk about local police support!

Thanks to the Sudbury Red Cross, City of Greater Sudbury Police, Sudbury Hydro and the owners of the radar site for an excellent setup this year. Hope to be back here next year, maybe with more stations.
