08/14/2006 | W5QGG This year's 4A effort from Midland, Texas was lead by club vice president Tex KB5KNF. The club set up 3 tribanders, a six-meter yagi, several verticals and dipoles. The air conditioned Sheriff's van housed the twin CW Orion stations. The SSB op's enjoyed the west Texas heat under the roof of the park's soccer building with the gota, vhf and Satellite setups.

KK5MV rocked the satellite station to several exciting QSO's using strong arm antenna pointing. Many of these qso's were made using only a HT.

Club president WA5ZFH fired up the VHF station.

KB5KNF lead the effort on the GOTA station making qso's with John an interested swl.

The club held the hamburger cookout on Saturday night to the delight of the operators and visitors. Everyone had a good time. The club continued to use its trusty generator this year and two towers that are raised with Jim's truck. It's a slick setup that makes the MARC FD a smooth operation. 73 -- W5AJ
