07/10/2006 | W4TMN It was fun, but I wish I had a better station. With my simple setup (Kenwood TS-440S into a G5RV at 100W), I was able to work a number of HQ stations, but conditions weren't the best here. I had do fight hard for every contact, but I enjoyed every minute of the contest. I only heard a few of the WRTC stations, which was wierd considering I normally hear lots of South American stations during contests. Maybe next year's contest will be better still as I hope to upgrade to Extra so I will have more of the band to use. Of course, a Yagi would help too!!! This was my first contest as a member of PVRC and I definitely wanted to do better than I did. -- W4TMN
