2006 ARRL September VHF Contest
I then turned my efforts to take advantage of the low noise and work 2M WSJT JT65B EME (moon-bounce) exclusively. Our moonrise was at 0345UTC (2045PST) on Saturday night and I had plenty of time to setup the station.
I arrived at the Satellite Amateur Radio Club early Saturday evening and began to set up my equipment.
All systems were working. Fortunately, I had the setup working by 1900PST, plenty of time to give out some terrestrial 2M QSO points before the moon rose.
After about 1.5 hours of operating, my station ended up working 30 stations and 12 grids on 2M terrestrial. At about 0330UTC I turned my attention to the moon. 2.5 hours later, I ended up working 10 stations and 10 grids via EME using JT65B.
My moon-bounce operations ended at 0615UTC (2315PST) with plenty of moon still left in the sky. What a great way to quickly gather new multipliers on 2M.
Combining the terrestrial and EME QSO points and grids my score would be 880 points.
My contest entry will be Check-log because my EME operations were announced on the JT65B logger during the QSO Party contest period.
I am looking forward to fully competing in the Jan. 2007 VHF Sweepstakes and 2M EME will be employed once again. -- N6VMO
