2006 ARRL September VHF Contest

09/12/2006 | KC4PX The contest started out real slow and continued throughout the contest period until 5PM on Sunday afternoon. As predicted, I told my wife that I should have plenty of time to do "honey do lists". However from 1700UTC Sunday for 3 hours it was like the June VHF contest on 6 meters. I enjoyed working mid-west stations from Texas up to Iowa and Ohio. The rest of my 6 meter contacts rested on scatter to the North-East. I woulder why W2SZ always rests his signal on 50.127??? Activity on the other bands in Florida is minimal, however we hope that the Baby Boomers of the Northeast come to Florida real soon!!! We need ya here to motivate VHF and UHF. Just prior to the contest I had the opportunity to catch Space Shuttle Atlantis take off - beautiful launch (and somehow my antennas got in the way).

Final Score: 19,680

50Mhz 115 Q's 67 Grids
144Mhz 18 Q's 9 Grids
222Mhz 7 Q's 5 Grids
432Mhz 9 Q's 6 Grids
902Mhz 4 Q's 3 Grids
1296Mhz 4 Q's 3 Grids
2304Mhz 4 Q's 3 Grids

Hummmm, looks like I need to concentrate more on the upper bands!!!! -- KC4PX
