2006 ARRL September VHF Contest

09/13/2006 | N2YTF My first contest where I am entering a log, and the first time I have operated a vhf contest here from ground level (operated from WTC with the 706MKIIG one year).

What a thrill, my newly acquired 222 transverter was not a let down, and neither were the homebrew 440 and 222 beams. From extreme north eastern New Jersey to central New Hampshire on 6m, 2m, 222, and 70cm with my modest equipment (706MKIIG & 222 transverter), what a thrill! I also got into western PA.

Now that the homebrew beams are battle tested, I have learned quite a bit more about proper beam mechanical construction and maximum weight as well...next soapbox look for beams with much stronger and more accurate booms and elements.

Im hooked...see you next contest.

Now lets see if I can get in some non contest vhf/uhf action back to the NYC area while leaf peeping in Vermont?New Hampshire/Maine.
