2006 ARRL November Sweepstakes (CW)

11/07/2006 | K5BZH This was my second year at CW Sweepstakes. I am a lite contester and definitely not a speed demon. Had fun chasing sections though. Last year I worked 48 sections, this year I snagged 63. Looking to get at least 73 next year. Hopefully by providing other operators with the West Texas Section they continue to found me tolerable.

Fired up my old TenTec Corsair as I figured I would need its 250 hertz filter, it did prove very useful. Used a J-38 key (WWII vintage, military used them for training) that is about as tarnished as me.

W1MX's check, 09, tripped me, then I realized that W1MX was the club station for MIT and has been around for a long long time. W6YX (24), Stanford University, was the next oldest station I worked, followed by W3CP (32).

In the last minutes of the contest I answered a CQ and got two responses, a bit awkward, but I managed to work them both, had six minutes of contest time left, decided that was a good place to hang it up. See you all next year. 73, Jim -- K5BZH
