11/13/2006 | N4KIT My first CW sweepstakes and boy was it fun. The bands were remarkably open for the bottom of the solar cycle. Money bands for me were 80 and 40, but also worked 15 and 20. 20 was so crowded, I had trouble with strong nearby sigs in the passband that pointed up the need for some CW filters in my FT-920. Guess I'll add those to the XMas want list hi hi. Thanks to all the ops who for the QRS and QSOs with a CW newbie. Worked the test on an FT-920 (sans narrow filters) running 100W into a Carolina Windom 80LP, Idiom Press CMOS III keyer (kit) and Vibrokeyer. -- N4KIT
