Having only earned my general a couple of weeks ago, I had never heard much less worked a contest before but I jumped right in and gave it a try. I was surprised by how many stations were running 1KW+ of power and these guys seemed to own 20 meters on Saturday when I was working. I was using only 100W and a small portable Buddipole antenna (that's all I can get away with in my CC&R limited community). This made for some interesting dodging and weaving and was lots of fun. I wonder if it would be possible to reserve a small section of the each band for QRP and low power stations? Perhaps that doesn't make sense but I think it would be easier if there was at least 50-75 khz limited to 100W. Unfortunately this was my wedding anniversary weekend and I wasn't able to spend enough time to really mount a good showing. But I did learn and I will be ready for the next one. Thank you to all the stations I worked, I appreciate your patience. Your card is in the mail. Please return as I'm trying for my WAS. I can't wait for the next one. Thanks all! 73 -- K6PTS
