KY4KY
Phone Sweeps just happens to fall during the Kentucky Deer Season, so I have missed any real effort for it for many years. BUT this year was a bit different, since my sons have both upgraded to General this past year. So between chasing venison we decided to do a bit of impromptu contesting. The goal was simple, make about 100Q's and have a good time. So this year upon arrival at the farm we strung up a 40 meter dipole, from the top of a 20 ft piece of fence rail and stretched to two close trees. Rig was a Kenwood 440S and power was supplied by two deep cycle marine batteries. I'd say almost as primitive a contest station as can be perceived. We did manage to work KL7 and KH6, missed easy ones like TN and AL. We beat our goal, put 130 Q's in the log and had a great time. See you next year again from the remote reaches of Kentucky.
