2007 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/02/2007 | KB3LFC Once again it was great to work SKN. I had the time to work only four stations, in four states, two on 80-Meters, one on 40 and one on 30, but the QSOs were very enjoyable. My old calls were KC3YD and KA3LPJ. Got out of radio for about 10 years but got relicensed in May, 2004 and have been having a ball ever since working QRP CW. My interest in QRP operation was re-kindled by my friend John, K3WWP who happens to live about 3 miles from me. AS far as I know, John and I are the only radio amateurs in Armstrong County, Pa. (out of roughly two dozen or so)who are dedicated CW ops. I guess the other guys and gals don't know what they're missing. Of course, John and I work a SKN 365 days out of the year as part of the North American QRP CW CLub. This most recent SKN remended me of the "good old days" when you could turn on your rig on 40 or 80 meters even during the wee hours of the morning and find literally dozens of CW stations pounding brass. For me, CW operation at QRP levels has injected new life and challenges into radio operation and was the main reason for my return to the hobby.
