2007 ARRL Straight Key Night
I worked as much as I could this year but propagation must not
have been too good. I started out at 00:00 January 1, 2007 UTC
(This was 1800 (6PM) my time on Dec. 31st)and I worked about 2 1/2
hours and I could only make about 3 contacts. We celebrated New Years
with my family and then I hit it again in the afternoon on Jan. 1st 2007 and I made 4 more contacts. 7 total contacts.
I was using my Yaesu FT-767 GX and Dipole Antenna with about 10 watts.
For my straight key this year I wanted to make it special so I created
my own key. A dinner fork mounted on an oak base. One guy said that he had never been "fed CW with a fork before". This was my favorite
QSO. It was with N0UMP. Bill in Garden City, MO.
There was a lot of CW contacts going on this year and it was not easy to find a place to send out the CQ's but I made contacts where I found a spot. I guess this proves that CW is still alive and well. -- KC9FAV
