2007 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/02/2007 | W1TS Another SKN and the opportunity to use my vintage gear to QSO others with similiar stations. Rigs used this year were my DX-60-B and 75A-3, B&W 5100-B and HQ-150, and my TS-830-S with a J-45/J-37 key sitting atop a 1930's Stromberg Carlson console.

Two contacts stood out as unique: One with W3DP, Dick, who was using his German WWII key and me with my J-38. He remarked that in all probability, these two keys NEVER worked each other during the "Big War"!

The other was with my long time friend, Roger, K1MBX. It was reminiscent of the first QSO I had with him in 1959 when he was KN1MBX and I was WN1MBX! At that time he thought he was hearing an echo come back to his CQ!

Worked only 80 meters and the entire lower 100 Khz. were very busy throughout the evening. Another good time on a good mode! -- W1TS
