2007 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/02/2007 | N6WK Wow,
My third SKN worked. The bands were full of Signals. Many with the Chirps of old rigs from years gone by Reminded me of my novice days back in the early 60's. All the activity was wonderful. On 20, 40 and 80 meters, it was hard to even find a clear spot to call CQ. I used my Old WW II vintage J-38 along with my modern Kenwood TS-2000.
I ended up have 23 SKN QSO's including ones with Hawaii for over an hour , Japan and Alaska. I worked many ops that also belonged to SKCC, a group devoted to the use of Straight keys or bugs.
I am already looking forward to restoring an old Rig to use in next years SKN. The Best Fist I heard was John AL7JK.
The most interesting QSO was with Max, KH6ZM, as we talked about radios, Amplifiers, Antennas, Cars, gourmet Oxygen and Chinese Radar. Fun QSO to say the least.
Thanks ARRL for holding one of your BEST events of the year.
73 to all,
Gordon -- N6WK
